Good Bye Preschool...Hello Kindergarten

Today was my sons last day of preschool. ;-( It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating I was pregnant and a few months after fascinated with the most precious gift any couple could ask for, our very own child. Our first born is now 4 years old and WOW, in just a couple of months (60 days to be exact) he'll be going to Kindergarten. Today I really saw, how time has passed me by and how my Matt is no longer a toddler but a "big boy" ready to enter another wonderful phase in his life.
For weeks I've known that June 30th, would be his last day of preschool. Being that mommy that wants to be involved in my child's life, I thought it would be nice to make some goodies for a great and productive year his class has had. Last week, I mentioned that I would be creating some soccer goody bags in memory of Dennis Marshall. So, I got to thinking how should I design them and what should go in them. Here are the results of what were suppose to be soccer goody bags but yet never go to the bags :-). Excuse the pictures (courtesy of my hubby's new ipod) for they are not very clear.
I got some juice bottles, popcorn and cake pops and added a soccer touch to it...here are the results.
Popcorn Cones: I printed a few sheets of paper with the soccer ball background. Downloaded a template for the cones and here is an example of my beautiful creation.

Soccer Popcorn Cones

Soccerade Juice: "Soccerade" for the thirsty child, who eats popcorn and nice moist chocolate cake pops. No kid (at least mine) can live without juice.

Sprinkled Cake Pops: The pops were placed in a circular styrofoam, which I added a green like grass and soccer balls around it. The end result resembled a soccer field and the cake pops were the soccer players in a huddle.
It was kept simple but done with lots of love for my little man. Thank you Lord for the opportunity of being a parent and having two wonderful little dudes. May my boys grow up to be great men of God that honor and respect themselves and others by resembling who you are. Thanks to all the teachers who have played a role in my sons teachings and my they continue to bless other children. May all his new teachers to come be of great blessings and good role models to his life.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

Futbol

Ok, so I forgot to mention Soccer is a big thing in my family. My husband plays it and my boys talk, play and watch this sport 24/7. The only thing I hear my boys say is Gol...Goooool de Messi, Gol de la Liga(LDA). I like the sport and recently I've been watching the Gold Cup (previously known as CONCACAF Championship), which is held every 2 years in the USA. I'm a huge fan of the Costa Rican team, regardless of how much we have dropped our ranking and how this new "Sele" hasn't yet adjusted to playing some good futbol. My hope is that my team will one day win the Gold Cup. As for this years Gold Cup, Dennis Marshall scored the only goal for Costa Rica five days earlier in a match against Honduras in the quaterfinals of the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Thanks to Alvaro Saborio, by far the worst soccer player that the "Sele" has had, we were kicked out of the cup.

Ok, so you might be asking what does all this soccer talk have to do with any party creations? In my world many things, but today nothing that I'm creating at this moment. Basically, I have had in my mind one of the Costa Ricans soccer player Dennis Marshall, who died yesterday while traveling with his wife on the Braulio Carillo highway in Costa Rica. My heartfelt condalences for the Marshall & Masís family on the passing of their son and daughter. May God's peace and strength be with you all. It's hard to believe how one day we are here and the next only God knows where we will be. It's amazing how this young soccer player has touched my heart and has had me thinking about him and his family all day.

In honor of Dennis Marshall I'll be creating soccer goody bags for my son's last day of school. Stay tuned for pictures before the end of next week. Also check out karaspartyideas.blogspot.com for all the details and downloadable templates for your own soccer party!

This is My Year!!

It's been about 2+ years that I have been saying "I'm going to start my own blog." Bueno this is my year! I confessed it 4 days ago, as I turned 31 that this was going to be the year..."my year" of great & many accomplishments.

Here I am starting my blog and hurray for my first posting. As you read my postings please keep in mind I'm not writer but a wife, mom, daughter, sister and friend that is very passionate in what I most enjoy and that is... creating unique birthday party ideas. So, if my postings sound boring ni modo, I'm just here to share my ideas. I hope you at least enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoy creating each little detail for my family and friends parties.

Right now I have a million thoughts running through my head... just not sure how to write them down. For the most part I spend my weekdays in an office for 8 hours, where I take advantage of my 1 hour break to run, pick up, drop off and see my boys. After work I'm on the go up until late at night. I use my weekends to work on projects, spend time with my familia and church. Meaning you probably won't see tons of blogging but I'll try my best to update my blog once a week, if I don't it's because I'm doing one of the above.

Thanks for reading. I hope to have this blogging set up and rolling soon. Your comments and support are greatly appreciated.
